Urgent Need for Non-perishable Food

To all our members and friends:

This week, we received an URGENT call from the Washington-Warren Food Bank indicating that they were dangerously low on food supplies.  They have only recently opened a physical location for this very local food bank and it is already severely depleted.  Many of us don’t think about it as we are going about our more relaxed summer schedule but the people who rely on Food Bank donations to make ends meet don’t forget that they still need to put food on the table.

The Food Bank need donations NOW.  Please bring your food donations to the Parish House food basket and we will see that the food gets to the food bank right away.  We will continue to direct our food donations over the next several weeks to this food bank to help them to meet immediate needs and replenish their stock.  Look for future reminders over the summer.

Meanwhile, these things are specifically needed:

(Please... NO dried beans/canned beans/corn, or pasta!)

  • Canned green beans, carrots, tomatoes, beets and potatoes.
  • Canned fruit - preferably canned in JUICE, not syrup
  • Canned tuna, ham, chicken
  • Juices that do not require refrigeration (such as grape, cranberry, and cranberry blends)

The Parish House building will be open today until 5 pm, Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, Saturday, 7:30 am to 1 pm for sure.  Or you can bring on Sunday when you come to church.

Thank you for your continued support of the local food banks and also for your immediate response, if you are able, to this urgent appeal!
